Lisa Williams earns a Winston Churchill Fellowship

Lisa Williams has been awarded a 2024 Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship. The purpose of the fellowships are to help Kiwis “travel overseas to expand their knowledge on topics of significance in Aotearoa New Zealand, and return with inspiration and experience that they use to benefit their communities and Aotearoa New Zealand.”

Lisa Williams

Lisa will be exploring how palliative care and end of life needs of people in the Rainbow community are being addressed in the United States and the UK. She plans to bring back knowledge that will inform palliative and end of life care policy and practice. “This fellowship dovetails with the pilot project I’m undertaking with Tess Moeke-Maxwell. We’re looking into the needs and preferences of Māori and non-Māori older adults in the Rainbow community. In tandem with this research, I see it as really important to learn what other countries are already doing in this space.” The pilot project is being funded by the Health Research Council of NZ and also by a Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences development grant.

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust was established in 1965 with funds from both the government and the public. For more information on the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust also check out the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/winstonchurchillmemorialtrustnz/
