Tess Moeke-Maxwell audio interview

Waatea News: Māori perspective on palliative care and end of life care

April 5 2019

Listen to Tess’s interview

Tess Moeke-Maxwell talked to Iulia Leilua on Iulia’s show Te Rongopai about palliative and end of life care in a Māori context. Tess offered a cultural perspective on how ‘we reach out and wrap our arms around whānau’ at the end of life. The show includes audio from our original Māori digital stories. (The stories sound good even without the visual images!) Tess offers excellent insight into the messages the stories contain about caring for kaumātua at the end of life. She also discusses ways mainstream healthcare services can adapt their care to be more culturally aware.

Iulia hosts her show, Te Rongopai, on Sunday mornings. It’s a weekly half-hour bilingual show that ‘discusses the message of Te Rongopai translated as The Good News or Gospel Message’.
